Composition is key in the making of a great photo. While many elements go into a photograph, composition can either invite the viewer into the image or keep the image one dimensional and without feeling. We have been trying to capture images for thousands of years now. Prior to the camera\’s invention, images were captured via drawing and paintings. In general, the drawings and paintings weren\’t exact representations of their subjects since they depended largely on the skill of the artists. Minneapolis photographer Bob Dale says \”The development of the camera was revolutionary; capturing subjects in their exact likeness through photographs is still magic.\”

Digital SLR cameras are becoming very popular. According to a 2007 IDC report, there were about 7.5 million digital cameras sold. Canon and Nikon cameras dominated the digital SLR market, with Olympus and Sony taking up a large portion of the leftover market-share. In fact, Canon and Nikon accounted for approximately 80% of the total digital SLR camera sales, Sony and Olympus accounted for about 12%, with Panasonic and Pentax also having significant digital SLR camera sales.
