Why is Ice Slippery?
Scientists still do not have an answer to that question. A New York Times article has more information.
I found this quote from the article to be very interesting:
Ice, said Robert M. Rosenberg, an emeritus professor of chemistry at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., and a visiting scholar at Northwestern University, “is a very mysterious solid.”
Science continues to advance by leaps and bounds. Yet, there are still mysteries that can not be cracked. One of those mysteries is the human brain. There is a lot to be learned and understood about the functions of the brain. For example, learning, memory and consciousness. A very good book that deals with this subject is: Mind Wide Open - Your Brain and the Neuroscience of Everyday Life by Steven Johnson. I strongly recommend it for anyone who is interested in learning more anout the brain and its wonders.
